New Report on Value of the American Community Survey

Washington, D.C. -- The U.S. Department of Commerce's Economics and Statistics Administration (ESA) released a new report today titled, "The Value of the American Community Survey: Smart Government, Competitive Businesses, and Informed Citizens."  The report shows how the Census Bureau's American Community Survey (ACS) is used to accurately direct over $400 billion in federal funds to the communities that need them, and to help businesses and community leaders make operational decisions that generate economic activity, boost employment, and improve the standard of living in communities across the country.

Statement from U.S. Commerce Secretary Penny Pritzker on International Trade in Goods and Services in February 2015

WASHINGTON – U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker issued the following statement today on the release of the February 2015 U.S. International Trade in Goods and Services data. The goods and services trade deficit improved by 17 percent to $35.4 billion in February. This is the lowest monthly trade deficit since October 2009.

Statement from U.S. Commerce Secretary Penny Pritzker on International Trade in Goods and Services in January 2015

Washington – U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker issued the following statement today on the release of the January 2015 U.S. International Trade in Goods and Services data. The goods and services trade deficit improved by $3.9 billion to $41.8 billion in January. Record monthly levels were reached in exports of insurance and other business services. U.S. exports of goods and services decreased to $189.4 billion in January from $195 billion in December 2014.
